Life Support Instructor - Clinical Education

The Life Support Instructor is responsible for the coordination,
development, implementation and evaluation of Life Support courses
and Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) courses sponsored by
Carle. Creates and delivers simulated clinical training including
mock codes. Responsibilities include: facilitating each program
offered; serving as Training Center faculty for the American Heart
Association (AHA); managing distribution of certification records;
meeting all compliance requirements of the AHA; managing expenses
to stay within budget allocations; maintaining equipment;
purchasing new equipment and teaching materials; forecasting future
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor within 60 days and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor within 60 days
and Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor within 60 days.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required in
addition to strong verbal and written communication skills.
Superior customer service is required. The ability to work as a
member of a team is essential. Experience with computer
- Conducts life support courses including Basic Life Support
(BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced
Life Support (PALS)and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) to meet the
educational and licensure needs/requirements for Carle Foundation
employees and regional clinicians while maintaining American Heart
Association standards. Conducts Automatic Electronic Defibrillator
(AED) certification classes.
- Manages the forecasting, scheduling, coordination,
implementation and record-keeping of all life support and AED
courses and equipment including Basic Life Support, Advanced
Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal
Life Support while managing resources to keep the courses efficient
and cost effective.
- Performs as a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation instructor and
meets the yearly departmental teaching requirements.
- Serves as instructor and Training Center Faculty for all Life
