Job Description:

Job Summary: Supervises and coordinates the activities and personnel of the Quality Engineering department, which includes the review and evaluation of the progress of the launch programs and production customer concerns as performed within the department. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of the quality engineers and quality technicians2. Provides leadership and guidance within the department for the support of production launch teams3. Conducts and/or coordinates the training of quality engineers and quality technicians in accordance with their overall responsibilities within the department4. Coordinates and leads Quality Engineering activities within the plant related to both internal and customer issues, as required5. Performs ongoing reviews of product performance and process data, and makes recommendations concerning product performance6. Provides expertise to other engineers for them to use in problem solving for solutions related to assignedprojects, and assists the other engineers in this function7. Works closely with customers to resolve quality issues and returns, leads activities related to the formal response to management and the customer8. Performs engineering research and development, and recommends new techniques, processes, and technologies related to assigned projects9. Reviews the content and accuracy of Quality Engineering APQP/PPAP documentation including, inspection standards, control plans, testing reports, sample data sheets, regulation reports, etc.10. Supports and overseas department KPIs as established by management11. Monitors department manning requirements based on business awarded, and makes recommendations to management, as required12. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related technical discipline2. 6 to 8 years of experience in a Quality Engineering related position, to include at least two years in a senior or lead role3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:a. Knowledge and understanding of testing methods, and government requirements for several different types of automotive designs and different automotive marketsb. Knowledge and understanding of FMVSS 108 Standards, and specific NAL customer standards - such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, GM , Ford, and Subaruc. Knowledge and understanding of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (AdvanceProduct Quality Planning) is preferredd. Analytical and problem solving skillse. Organizational, planning, and project management skillsf. Computer skills - proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)g. Technical writing and presentation skillsh. Written and verbal communications skillsi. Leadership and coaching skillsj.
Interpersonal skills - the ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in pressure situations (internally and outside of the company)
