Job Description

Zachry Group is currently looking for a Process Engineer III to work in our Champaign, IL Design Center.

Position Summary

Responsible for Project specific Process Engineering and Design functions in the Design Office.

Position Highlights

  • 4+ years' experience working as a process engineer
  • Preferred Candidate will have experience as a Process Engineer in the midstream, petrochemical and refining industries.
  • Will work with other engineers to design and trouble shoot issues in oil and gas, and petrochemical processes and equipment. Position Duties and Responsibilities
    • Responsible for design of relief system, flare header design, relief valve sizing and performing contingency analysis and flare header analysis.
    • Responsible for sizing and rating various equipment like pumps, horizontal and vertical vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, and air coolers.
    • Responsible for developing process flow diagrams and process and instrumentation diagrams.
    • Responsible for development of heat and material balance information using various commercial softwares.
    • Responsible for performing hydraulic analysis and calculations for piping systems.
    • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and studies.
    • Responsible for engineering and design tasks of the Process engineering discipline of assigned projects. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
    • Evaluate processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
    • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, and to incorporate in technical specifications to be issued for procuring equipment and instruments. Job Requirements

      Required Qualifications
      • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
      • 4+ years' experience as a process engineer
      • Proficient in performing hydraulic analysis, heat and material balance calculations and flare system analysis
      • Experience in safety system design
      • Experience in sizing and rating pumps, vessels and exchangers
      • Experience in PFD and P&ID development, and participation in Hazop and LOPA studies
      • Experience in developing instrument lists and line lists
      • Experience in LNG terminal design
      • Good Communication Skills
      • Complex Problem Solving skills
      • Critical Thinking
      • Attention to Detail
      • Sound Engineering Judgment and Decision Making

        Reporting to This Position

        This position will not have any direct reports.

        Physical Requirements

        Physical demands:

        --- Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position will include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

        Work environment:

        --- Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse, and trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells, whistles and alarms.
