Your Role at Cabot: The Tuscola Facility General Manager (FGM)
is responsible for driving the manufacturing plant to operational
excellence levels which will enable Cabot to grow its Fumed Metal
Oxides (FMO) business. The Tuscola facility is a key site in the
Cabot FMO global manufacturing network. The focus for the site is
on the production and supply of treated FMO-grades. Products with
high value added for the customer and a key growing area for the
Cabot FMO business. The Tuscola FGM leads a team of department
managers and is accountable for all aspects of managing the
manufacturing processes to produce and ship high quality products
while complying with all policies, procedures, regulations, laws,
and maintaining alignment with Cabot's Culture and Values. As a key
member of the regional business leadership team, the Tuscola FGM
develops and implements the site's long-range plan, goals and
objectives that support, and are aligned with, business and global
manufacturing goals. In this role, FGM will share key learnings
with others and will continuously seek for improvement ideas in
technology and managerial methods from others. This position
requires a passion for process excellence, a drive for results, and
the determination, know-how and leadership presence to drive teams
through a transformational performance improvement process ensuring
that results are achieved. How You Will Make an Impact: --- Ensures
safe production of products that meet customers' needs for quality
--- Leads activities of plant's cross-functional staff and ensures
compliance with all company and external standards/regulations for
Manufacturing, Sales, SH&E, Finance, Quality, HR, and Community
--- Secures an excellent relationship with the regulatory
authorities and manage all aspects of the permit to operate of the
--- Nurtures a culture where all employees pursue continuous
--- Ensures improvement of process capability / reliability,
resulting in less process variability and reduction in generation
of off-quality material.
--- Ensures safe, reliable and cost-effective manufacturing of
--- Ensures that the appropriate management of change process is
followed in case of changes to products, processes, assets, and
--- Drive cost efficiency- departmental budgets and expenditures to
meet financial cost targets and objectives established through
formal planning processes.
--- Effectively champions Performance Based Management by coaching
and developing employees, direct as well as matrix reports.
--- Establishes and implements local initiatives that enhance
effective utilization of plant assets.
--- Ensures long-term integrity and fit for purpose of all facility
assets. Efficiently manages capital budget through use of the
capital management system.
--- Leads community outreach that includes development,
implementation, and participation in a facility plan consistent
with our neighbor's choice of philosophy. What You Will Bring to
Cabot: --- Ability to orchestrate the pace and process of change to
maintain operating effectiveness; ability to challenge status quo,
encourage performance-improving changes even when faced with
--- Prior experience in successfully leading transformational
performance improvement at a manufacturing site.
--- Leadership skills to motivate and lead cross-functional staff.
Ability to work effectively with external contacts and community as
needed. Requires negotiations with government agencies and other
--- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety
procedures. Knowledge of Continuous Improvement process and
techniques. Strong focus on creating a culture of prioritizing
safety first, and orientation towards understanding and addressing
any environmental concerns.
--- Comprehensive knowledge of industry and In-depth understanding
of how plant integrates with business' manufacturing goals.
--- Ability to organize and manage diverse and multiple resources.
Analytical skills to evaluate a variety of dynamic and complex
situations requiring innovative solutions.
--- Bachelor/University Degree, preferably in a technical
--- 7-10 years manufacturing experience, including prior
