Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - ASN degree - Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience - Illinois state RN License in good standing - BLS certification Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the institution. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Completes patient assessments reflecting patient condition and documents data in the electronic record. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings and notifies the physician appropriately. Establishes a plan of care for the patient and sets goals. Establishes IVs on patients over 8 years old and practices 5 rights for medication administration for all patients. Participates in the time-out process with the operating room RN.
