Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Admissions/Discharge Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required not specified License: RN license Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Required education - College Diploma in Nursing Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. You will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care, often catching any complications early. Rapid assessment and interpretation of complex patient data are essential. You will make evidence-based decisions under pressure while managing acute and chronic conditions. You will assess patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes. An individualized plan of care will be developed using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and healthcare team. You will use appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes. Ongoing evaluation and documentation of the patient's progress toward expected outcomes/goals will be conducted throughout the shift. You will modify the plan of care based on evaluation and changes in the patient condition as needed. Completion of required documentation, including patient charts and event reports, is expected. You will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. Performing patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider orders and hospital lab procedures/policies is required. You will adapt teaching strategies based on the patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension. Consideration of cultural, age-specific, and developmental factors will be essential when teaching patients about procedures, illness, and the hospital experience. Ensuring patient safety in the hospital environment by following policy/procedures and adhering to national patient safety goals is crucial. You will utilize patient education systems as resources for patients and family members. Assuring that care provided is consistent with standards of care, evidence-based practices, national patient safety goals, core measures, and quality initiatives undertaken by the unit/hospital will be part of your role. Participation in the implementation of performance improvement initiatives is expected. Prompt and efficient follow-up on patient/family requests/needs is important, as well as anticipating patient/family needs.
