We have an exciting career opportunity for an enthusiastic, reliable, and safety-conscious individual. Duties of this position include the safe, efficient, and courteous transport of electrical supplies, materials, and parts between our branch locations and assisting with various warehouse functions.The Transfer Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of electrical supplies & materials between our branch locations and assisting with the receiving, storage, handling, shipping, and control of material being inventoried and sold.The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with a service and team orientation, have a friendly disposition and excellent work ethic, possess a valid driver's license, have a history of safe driving, have the physical ability to frequently lift up to 75 lbs, and have experience in or familiarity with warehouse and delivery operations. Basic computers skills required. Must be willing to work 2:00pm - 10:30pm, Monday - Friday. Shift differential is available.DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES* Drives company truck with great care, assuring compliance with all prevailing traffic laws, including legal speed limits.* Creates and maintains a productive and efficient delivery schedule and delivery route that assures timely delivery and pick-up of materials.* Loads and unloads material from truck in an accurate, efficient, and safe manner, utilizing proper body mechanics and proper equipment (e.g., forklift).* Assures proper documentation accompanies all material being loaded onto or unloaded from the truck.* Greets and interacts with customers in a cheerful and helpful manner.* Observes customer opportunities and problems and reports them to the Warehouse Manager.* Maintains the company truck in accordance with local and state ordinances, as well as company protocol.* Completes and files daily vehicle inspection report.* Develops and maintains knowledge of electrical products.* Develops and maintains knowledge of stock location within the warehouse.* Receives and puts up/stores materials being inventoried in a safe and appropriate manner.* Checks material in against receiving ticket to assure accuracy.* Fills pick-orders for shipment.* Prepares bills of lading for shipment.* Verifies outgoing shipments for accuracy.* Assists in the general maintenance of the warehouseSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE* Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.* Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, especially verbally.* Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including an ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.* Ability to work well alone and in a team environment.* Strong customer service orientation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEssential* High School diploma or equivalent, as determined by Springfield Electric.* Valid and properly classified driver's license for the gross vehicle weight rating of the company vehicles being operated.* Successful completion of all driver qualification requirements as specified in the Department of Transportation regulations and as adopted by Springfield Electric, including pre-employment physical examination, regularly scheduled follow-up physical examinations, and proof of safe driving record.Preferred* One or more years of experience in a route driver position or warehouse/distribution environment.* Basic familiarity with the use of a personal computer.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.* Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone.* Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including the ability to maneuver at heights and in tight or small places.* Ability to safely negotiate walking through construction sites while carrying or otherwise transporting work-related materials.* Ability to routinely lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 75 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 75 lbs.
