Job Description:
The Town of Tilton, NH is seeking a progressive,
community-oriented Police Chief to lead this full-service police
department consisting of 15 FT officers, 2 PT officers, and 4
non-sworn support personnel with an anticipated operating budget of
$2.287 million. In 2020, a new 12,400' police station was approved;
that project is underway. With approximately 3700 residents along
I-93 in the Lakes Region, Tilton is just 30 minutes north of
Concord. Tilton includes beautiful residential areas, a world
renowned private preparatory school, and substantial
commercial/industrial business and regional outlet stores just
moments away from Lake Winnipesaukee, and 30 minutes from the
campus of Plymouth State University and the White Mountains. The
Town is governed by a 5-member Board of Selectmen, with an
appointed Town Administrator. A degree in criminal justice, police
administration or related field; ability to receive NHPSTC
certification as a police officer; and ten years of progressively
responsible policing experience; or any equivalent combination of
education and experience is required. Salary range to $99K.
