Position Summary:Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute (SFCRI) at Carle Hospital is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellow for a translational research project, co-led by Georgina Cheng, MD PhD and Rohit Bhargava, PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to develop novel imaging technology for surgical pathology using spectroscopic imaging data. The post-doc fellow in optical imaging will be responsible for developing protocols for tissue imaging that includes measurement of samples, spectroscopic interpretation of data, use of machine learning and visualization of information. They will also be responsible for conceptualizing, extracting, and analyzing research data with advanced software and perform statistical analysis on the results. This is a full-time, 2 year position. Educational Requirements:Ph.D. in electrical engineering, bioengineering, computational biology, chemistry or related fieldExperience requirements:Minimum of 2 years conducting optical spectroscopic imaging, signal processing, analytics, machine learning, math or statistical modeling. Experience in using MATLAB and familiarity with high-level programming languages (C++ or Python) is required.DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS

• Develop tissue analysis protocols based on spectroscopic imaging and microscopy
• Identify technical issues and develops workflows for analytics of data
• Design, develop and maintain clinical reports
• Build predictive models to improve clinical care in gynecologic cancersEssential Standard Job Functions:
  • In consultation with the Principal Investigator - plan, design, execute and analyze results of research projects
  • Develop and write research protocols for submission to IRB
  • Disseminate scientific results and produce manuscripts for submission to journals
  • Other research-related duties as assignedSpecialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
    • Advanced understanding of infrared spectroscopy imaging
    • Advanced mathematical modeling of imaging systems
    • Advanced analytic computer skills, including MATLAB and C++ or Python, all MS office products and image processing software such as ImageJ
    • Ability to develop and monitor databases
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of researchers
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate interactions with faculty, clinical-investigators, and staff
