The City of Champaign seeks qualified candidates for a career opportunity as an Impact Outreach Worker in the Equity and Engagement Department. This is a full-time position authorized for two years from the date of hire; renewal will depend on availability of funding and programmatic needs. Responsibilities of Position This position assists with the implementation of gun violence prevention and intervention programming. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating community engagement activities after gun related incidents, building relationships with and providing support to families impacted by gun violence, collaborating with other City staff on neighborhood engagement activities, and supporting the coordination of services through the Community Safety and Justice Division of the Equity and Engagement Department. High school diploma or equivalent.-- Three years of successful work or volunteer experience in community organizing, crisis intervention, or youth and family support. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Current valid state-issued driver---s license and good driving record. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Availability to occasionally work outside of regular work hours including events and weekends to participate in community engagement activities. Ability to perform the duties of the position including moving through communities/neighborhoods and remaining stationary for long periods, with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with families impacted by gun violence. Completion of trauma informed, crisis intervention, or other similar training. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Drug screening and criminal background checkvwill be required.
