The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) is
hiring two (2) Volunteer Services Coordinators. This position is
responsible for assisting the Marketing & Guest Experience Director
and Volunteer Services Manager in implementing volunteer program
strategies and services. The ideal candidate is highly organized
and personable with the ability to establish and maintain
continuous working relationships. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential
Library and Museum is a world class institution that welcomes more
than 250,000 visitors every year and houses one of the world's best
collections of Lincoln-related documents, artifacts and audiovisual

Job Responsibilities
Provides assistive service to supervising staff of volunteers in
evaluating volunteer work performance, resignation, and forms of
recognition for service.
Identifies the need for volunteer services in agency programs.
Informs management and staff of the concept and potentials for
utilizing volunteer resources and develops staffing plan.
Ensures each volunteer is fulfilling their assigned duties and
provides forms of recognition for their service.
Provides feedback on volunteer work performance.
Maintains necessary records, reports, schedules and other
administrative aids and assists in document development.
Collaborates with supervisors in the development of volunteer
manuals and informational documents that outline the volunteer
positions, work rules, and rules of conduct for volunteers.
Utilizes computer software to prepare and develop administrative
documents.
Maintains electronic records.
Coordinates design, layout, and printing of materials with
supervisors and other agency divisions.
Job Responsibilities (Continued)
Develops and applies practical skills in recruiting, interviewing
and selecting volunteer applicants, and planning and coordinating
their orientation and placement.
Writes job descriptions for each volunteer position.
Participates in the recruitment, selection and training of
potential volunteers.
Assists in coordinating the placement of the volunteers according
to their knowledge, experience, and interests.
Assists new volunteer orientations, interviews, and training
sessions and ongoing continued education programming.
Prepares and sends regular correspondences to volunteers to keep
them informed and updated on volunteer opportunities and needs,
educational programming, and agency operations.
Participates in virtual meetings with volunteers.
Builds strong rapport with the volunteers and provides them any
necessary direction or assistance to aid in completing their
volunteer tasks with the intent of improving the quality of the
work assigned to the volunteer program.

Establishes and maintains continuous working relationships with
other ALPLM staff, volunteers, and the community.
Communicates the concept, objectives and potential benefits of
utilizing volunteer resources to provide program services.
Provides information and data for internal evaluation of the
program.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably
within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to
completion of four years of college.
Requires six months of responsible professional experience with
volunteer program management, community organization or a social
science field.
Preferred Qualifications
Requires working knowledge of principles and procedures in the
development and utilization of community services in a volunteer
services program.
Requires ability to present ideas accurately and effectively,
orally and in writing.
Requires working knowledge of the principles and practices of
personnel management and the learning process as they relate to the
recruitment, selection, placement, training, and retention of
volunteers.
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, utilize relevant
software, and navigate social media.
Requires ability to participate in planning and organizing programs
for utilizing volunteer workers.
Requires ability to carry out an informational program for securing
public support of volunteer services.
Requires ability to establish and maintain cooperative working
relationships with staff personnel, community leaders, and the
general public.
Requires working knowledge of methods of supervision, organization
and administration.

Requires ability to pass a background check.
Requires ability to work at various times outside of normal office
hours as needed.
Requires ability to lift objects that may weigh up to 10
pounds.
Requires ability to stand during the course of duties.
