Your Role at Cabot: Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to develop and implement recommendations for procedures or equipment modifications and upgrades to improve plant performance and reliability. Additionally, the engineer will have overall responsibility for the site mechanical integrity program, including management of the equipment inspection and testing program, performing equipment "end of life" assessments, and making recommendations for equipment repairs and replacements. We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced engineer who can manage/lead projects. The Reliability Engineer will work on-site at the Tuscola, IL plant. How You Will Make an Impact: In this role, your primary duty will be lead predictive/preventive maintenance efforts on process and support equipment. The position is focused on predictive/preventive maintenance program and scope and schedules. Reviewing data from the computerized maintenance management system to determine breakdown patterns and enter documentation. This role requires a safety mind-set, self-motivated person with a positive attitude, a ton of good energy, effective time management, organization, and recordkeeping skills. A successful candidate will be someone who can: Investigate equipment problems and design modifications to improve reliability, productivity, and safety using failure analysis to determine root cause and correct action.
Facilitate repairs of stationary and rotating equipment by working with original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket supplies as well as Cabot maintenance personnel, outside repair shops, and contractors.
Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of work for a part of a project or total project of scope to safely meet objectives and timeline. There may be specific regional activities to coordinate. Travel will be -10%.
Contributes to the Process Safety Management compliance by maintaining accurate Process Safety Information, supporting the Management of Change Process, and participating in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews and Process Hazards Analysis.
What You Will Bring to Cabot:
Post-secondary Mechanical Engineering degree (Bachelor's/University) and generally 5+ years of related experience in a plant or manufacturing environment.
Technical Excellence. Knowledge of chemical manufacturing process equipment, troubleshooting, process control, and process improvement. Experience with Analytical problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, failure mode analysis), reliability analysis tools, capital project management, contractor management. Strong wide-ranging technical skills in mechanical, instrumentation, utility, and electrical systems. Ensures compliance with all mechanical codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices (ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA, RC14001, ISO 9001, PSM).
Communication & Presentation Skills. Ability to effectively engage in verbal and written communications that are timely, concise, clear, and relevant while delivering with empathy with a broad range of stakeholders.
Computers. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as computerized maintenance systems.
Guide Results. Generates data, conducts analysis, and organizes and interprets data to establish and support equipment.
Works Safely. Strictly follows and complies with all SH&E procedures, standards and regulations and constantly strives for Excellence in the fields of sustainability and Safety, Health, and preservation of the Environment. Familiar with topics such as Process Safety Management (PSM), safe work permitting, lockout/tagout, emergency response, and hazard recognition.
