Description: Construction Project Coordinator I Construction Services Facilities and Services University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign Facilities & Services (F&S) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications for a Construction Project Coordinator (PC) I. Under administrative direction, the PC I receives work/project assignments from Construction Superintendents and Associate Director of Construction Services. The PC I manages the operations and activities related to the development, estimation, distribution, scheduling, and execution of campus construction work as agreed upon with campus and Facilities & Services (F&S) clients utilizing a combination of external contractors from the Contractor Services Program and F&S Crafts and Trades. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet with stakeholders requesting construction services to determine the scope of work requested. Review the site of the proposed work to determine design parameters and constraints. Coordinate the development of a project design and review it with project stakeholders. Assist with obtaining design drawings from qualified professionals as needed. Plan project work including defining job activities and sequences, craft jurisdictions, scheduling constraints to select appropriate construction resources and/delivery methods and develop a task specific project schedule and project budget. Review proposed staffing project resources and manpower with Construction Services Superintendent to confirm proposed project timelines and budget are achievable and that the best method of delivery is utilized. Prepare instructions for craftsmen and contractors who will perform the work. Order special materials and equipment as required. Reports and files all project data and Contractor Services data in appropriate Network Folders and AiM. Evaluates and updates projects on a daily basis to ensure budgets are maintained and completion dates are met. Issue work orders, schedules work, and inspects progress. Report on-going work schedules and project progress with project stakeholders. Supervise the work to ensure compliance with construction documents, building codes, University Standards, and other University policies, regulations, and initiatives. Assist in evaluating completed projects. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Three years (36 months) of experience: (a) work experience in construction management, building project management or closely related field (b) college coursework in engineering, architecture or closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: Associate Degree or 60 semester hours equals one year90 semester hours equals two yearsBachelor's degree or 120 semester hours equals three years One (1) additional year building construction management and/or building project management experience Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of maintenance, repair, as well as remodeling/construction techniques and procedures. Knowledge of standard construction practices and craft jurisdictional guidelines. Working knowledge of building codes. Working knowledge of institutional purchasing and accounting procedures. Working knowledge of computerized scheduling tools. Working knowledge of standard estimating tools such as Means. Successful Candidates will have: Ability to supervise, organize, and coordinate the work of others. Ability to monitor use of construction products, materials, and procedures and building craft jurisdiction. Working knowledge of design in structural, electrical and mechanical engineering and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Ability to express information on any phase of project work in written or oral form which can be readily understood by technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to use current software and procedures related to project management. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position calls for the ability to go to any part of a building, from the roof to the basement and into steam tunnels. Intense physical exertion is not anticipated. Requires climbing ladders. Requires frequent walking and periodic climbing and stooping in tight spaces. Requires manual dexterity and coordin ation. SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: This is a full-time Construction Project Coordinator I Civil Service position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after June 3, 2019 . Salary is commensurate with experience.
