Job Description Job Description The Case Manager II at the Youth
Assessment Center (YAC) supports youth aged 10-17 who are at risk
of becoming involved in the criminal justice system. The YAC serves
as a centralized resource hub, where families, schools, service
agencies, and law enforcement can refer youth facing challenges
such as behavioral issues, bullying, and other factors that may
contribute to their risk. Utilizing the principles of Balanced and
Restorative Justice (BARJ), this role involves conducting timely
assessments, providing resource referrals, and connecting youth to
appropriate services with the goal of fostering restoration and
positive community engagement. The Youth Assessment Case Manager
will work closely with youth to enhance decision-making and
problem-solving skills, manage stress, reduce impulsive behaviors,
improve communication, manage anger, build self-esteem, set goals,
develop emotional intelligence, and increase financial literacy.
Additionally, the role includes connecting youth to partner
agencies for further community support and resources. Bachelor’s
degree in social services or related field. Social service
experience particularly with youth. Strong background in customer
services and human services with program’s target population.
Ability to pass criminal background check. Ability to develop and
maintain effective professional relationships with clients and
community service providers. Knowledge of restorative justice
practices Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles. Experienced
preferred. Ability to complete client centered, trauma informed
screening and assessment tools. Proficient verbal, written, and
public speaking communication skills. Advanced computer skills
needed to complete case documentation, data entry and timesheets.
Demonstrated ability to effectively assess challenges and make
appropriate and timely recommendations for resolution. Valid
driver’s license, safe and reliable vehicle, and the ability to
transport clients on occasion. Ability to visit home sites
throughout Champaign County. Possess motivational interviewing
skills. Knowledge of treatment options, services, and programs for
youth and their families in Champaign County. Effective
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary to
relate well to clients, community members, stakeholders
(particularly Police Department staff), and funders. Ability to
attend community meetings and interpret information presented and
shared amongst participants, provide program information at
community meetings, and provide formal program presentations.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimum
supervision Schedule: 37.5-hour work week, with 7.5-hour workdays
between 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be
necessary to meet program objectives. Worksite: 2011 Round Bard

week FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Starting Wage Range (dependent
